Congrats to the Saints football team on their victory to take the 3A state title last night at the UNI-Dome! What a great season...way to go Saints!
A huge thank you to all of you for your assistance and attendance at the Trudy and Jan Benefit Pancake Breakfast this past Sunday. These two ladies have been a mentor to so many, but more than that they truly have shown all of those for whom they have touched how to walk like Christ. They have been the light of Christ, shining, for the children and families they have touched in their 30+ years of service to our community. We are grateful for your support and hope the love and support that was shared with them on Sunday will help them on their journey battling breast cancer. Please continue to lift them up in your prayers!
Thanks to your generosity, more than $5,000 was raised to help defray some of their medical costs. Jan and Trudy will be presented with a check in the coming weeks. Many thanks to all of you for making this event possible!
Jaguar Strong Pillowcases
This is your final reminder that we are selling custom "Jaguar Strong" pillowcases with the proceeds going to the Trudy Smith and Jan Krueger benefit account. The form to order those is attached. See the picture below for the final design. Please send your order form and payment to the main office; all checks need to be made out to the benefit account above. Knights of Columbus 909 - "Keep Christ in Christmas"
A great way to prepare children for the upcoming celebration of the birth of Christ is through the “Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest” sponsored by the Knights of Columbus 909. Children in age groups 5-7, 8-10, and 11-14 are invited to reflect on the significance of our Savior’s birth, as they participate in the season of Advent. Contest rules are attached and 11”x17” paper is available in the main office. Finished posters are due back to the school office by December 12th, 2018.

Children's Book Drive - sponsored by Marion Metro Kiwanis
Many children in our community do not learn to read well because they have no books of their own. A good book can open the door to learning. We would like to be able to provide the gift of reading to them at the holiday season. Marion Metro Kiwanis will be collecting new and gently used books for disadvantaged children from
November 26th through November 30th
. All books must be at school by Friday, November 30th. A table will be provided at the main entrance for the collection of books to be donated. Thank you for your support!
Barnes and Noble - St. Matthew Fundraiser
Mark your calendar and plan to do some shopping at Barnes & Noble on Friday, November 30th. St. Matthew will get a portion of proceeds from sales in store on November 30th (they are open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.) if you simply mention "St. Matthew School" when you check out. Shop for books, DVDs, toys, and much more. Purchases in the cafe also go towards this fundraiser. Stop by that evening from 6:30 to 7:30 PM for story time with Mrs. Bates and Mrs. Williams and to hear Christmas music sung by our Jaguars! If you aren't able to shop in-store in November 30th, please use our online

might be going.
Thank you from 4th Grade
Thank you to everyone who purchased Monster Hands and Witch's Broom treats from the 4th graders for their fundraiser leading up to Halloween. They were able to donate $241.25 to the Community Free Health Clinic!
Guatemala Mission Trip Info Session
Are you interested in joining other St. Matthew parishioners on a mission trip to Guatemala this summer? St. Matthew Parish is organizing a trip in August of 2019. We'd like to share more information with those who are interested in participating in this amazing faith-filled experience. We'll be talking about the dates, costs, itinerary and helping to answer any questions you might have. Please join us in the Rosary Room on
Monday, November 26th from 6 to 7 p.m
. to learn more. Interested but unable to attend? Please reach out to Gina Walsh at
We will be preparing for the Christmas season very soon. Please plan to join your fellow St. Matthew Parish members at our upcoming "Come Away to the Manger" Advent Retreat. This Advent, we want to offer you a moment of peace and a chance for you to join with other members of our community. At our retreat, we’ll have a few witness talks, share conversation in small groups, have time for prayer and Adoration, and look mindfully at our lives, learning how to create more space for Christ as we near His birth. After this retreat, you’ll be refreshed and challenged to create more moments of stillness in your real-world life. You’ll head into Christmas with a renewed mentality on the gift of Christ’s Birth. The retreat will be held on December 8th and 15th...simply pick one of those dates and plan to join us. Please follow the link for more information and to sign up.
The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree for St. Matthew Parish goes up this weekend over at Church. Plan to pick up an ornament while at Mass this weekend and brighten the spirits of another family this Christmas season.
Please see the attached flyer regarding the Saints baseball program. More information, including registration information is included in the link. Registration ends November 25th.

Message from the Principal
Just a note about car line...let me start by saying, I know there is not a lot of room on A Avenue and 23rd Street is pretty narrow as well, so I would encourage you to do the best you can to move over and allow for traffic to still continue in the opposite direction. With that being said, I thought I would send a reminder, especially for those of you who are new, as to the car line procedures. Our car line route begins on 23rd Street and then turns down A Avenue and then into the St. Matthew parking lot. I ask that you do not head South on A Avenue towards the playground as this prevents any thru traffic. Additionally, I kindly ask that you have your student(s) picked up by 3:20 PM, after which, please park and report to the main entrance to pick them up.
Essentials Team Highlight
In the last few weeks we have been very busy in the Art room! We have been working on transferring our 2-D drawings to 3-D versions! Many classes have started to paper mache these masks...it is by far our messiest activity all year! We also had our Art Club meetings for the month of November just in time for Thanksgiving. With such a short time until Christmas break we will be working hard to finish our masks and will be starting our Mardi Gras projects!!
