School Make-Up Days
The St. Matthew Board of Education has finalized a plan to meet the state required 1,080 hours. In order to meet this requirement with the make-up days as previously communicated, we also need to add 20 minutes to our school day. As of today this will provide us the minimum requirements plus an additional 11 hours.
As of Monday, March 25th, our new school hours will be 8:05 AM - 3:15 PM.
7:30 - Breakfast begins
7:45 - Students enter the building and are supervised in main hallway by me
7:45 - Teachers report; contract start time
7:55 - Students enter hallway to report to classrooms
8:05 - School begins; start of school day
8:30 - Preschool begins (no change)
11:30 - Preschool ends (no change)
3:15 - Students dismissed; end of school day
3:45 - Teacher contract end time
The previously communicated plan regarding make-up days is as follows:
Friday, March 15th
- we will be in-session along with Xavier (we realize some of you already have planned spring break activities, please note that this will be considered an excused absence)
Friday, April 5th
- we will be in session
Monday, April 22nd
- we will be in-session along with Regis and Xavier
Friday, May 17th
- will now be a full day of school with families welcome for a picnic lunch and Rainbow Day activities in the afternoon.
Thursday, May 30th
- we will be in session for a full day of school
Friday, May 31st
- will now be the last day of school including Mass, recognition and early dismissal.
Thank you to the Board of Education for their hard work in putting together the plan that is best for both students and families.
Back By Popular Demand.......SCRIP
We are all aware that costs are increasing for virtually everything we buy. We, at St. Matthew Elementary, feel that it is important to provide opportunities to our families to reduce their costs of education as much as possible. In researching options, one of the best ways for you to earn money to be applied to your families tuition is through the use of SCRIP.
The amazing part about the SCRIP program is not only its ease of use but that it truly does NOT require that you spend any additional money. The money you would have spent at a location would be used to purchase gift cards and then you would use the gift cards to make your purchases. We are going to be using the Great Lakes Scrip program which allows both in-person and online purchases.
This is where we need your help, we are in need of approximately 20 volunteers (for a variety of roles) to make this program run smoothly. Additionally, we are looking for a chairperson (or co-chairs) to help oversee this program. Please complete the form below by Friday, March 15th to indicate your interest in helping with the SCRIP program. With your help we can provide this amazing opportunity.
Please feel free to share this with others (i.e. grandparents, parishioners, etc) as well if they would be interested in helping out, regardless of the capacity!
