School begins this Thursday (9/3); both Thursday and Friday are half days (8:05AM-12:05PM)

The countdown is on and boy I can't wait to see all your kids. It seems like we have been planning for this day for a very long time. I apologize for the plethora of information and the lateness of this communication. I wanted to ensure that everything in these documents were finalized and as accurate as possible before publishing. There is a great deal of information contained in this communication, but also know all of this can be found at www.school.stmatthewcr.org/covid-19.

The staff and I have spent the last 5 days preparing for the arrival of 180+ students. We have a lot of great things to share with your kids and in doing so, we will review the safety protocols to ensure we are taking good care of them. Staff throughout the building will be on hand for Thursday's arrival to help with the uncertainties of returning to the building; we completely understand, it has been a very long since they have been with us!

Arrival and Dismissal

The arrival and dismissal information is included in the document linked here. I ask that you do me a huge favor and make sure your child is on the correct AM and PM list. The cliff notes version is:

Students on the yellow, red, green, or blue list, that means they are getting picked up after school
Students on the green list have ECC siblings so the ECC stairwell door was selected for convenience
Students on the purple list are Jaguar Xtension
NOTE: A Avenue will only be one-way due to tree debris so please make sure you follow the diagram on the page for your color

Arrival and Dismissal Document

Remote Learning

Included in the document below is all things related to online learning. At the onset of school, some of you have selected this option; however, the likely scenario is that a student may be in isolation or quarantine at some point throughout the school year. In the instance a student is home because of isolation or quarantine, they may continue to learn through the online option. Therefore, familiarizing yourself with this document is important. I will also review this with you, in the event this situation arises.

We continue to hope that our online, live options will increase with comfort and familarity so stay tuned to options for students to be a part of live instruction. Google Classroom is the format for the delivery of information, more details will come on this. Students need to be in their Google class first and then parents can be invited.

Remote Learning Document

Lunch and Breakfast

Breakfast will be served as a “grab and go” option from 7:45AM – 8:00AM. Students who are wishing to eat school breakfast will enter the building at their assigned door and walk to the cafeteria as if they were getting in the lunch line. In the cafeteria, they will speak to the adult in charge to provide their name, take their breakfast and report to their classroom to eat. Students should eat breakfast at their assigned desk location.

Lunch Shifts:

11:10AM - JK & Kindergarten
11:45AM – 1^st & 2^nd Grade
12:20PM – 3^rd, 4^th& 5^th Grade

Any amount of money may be put into your family account. Families with more than one student share one family account. The money value of each meal purchased in the cafeteria will be deducted from your account using a computerized cashiering system. Lunch money may be dropped off in the main office or in the classroom. We are in the process of evaluating an on-line system which would allow you to put money in your family account from home via credit card. Updates will be forthcoming.

No Formal Meet and Greet

We are not going to have a school-wide meet and greet, just a K and JK option. It pains me to say this, but in order to keep everyone safe and have a successful start to the school year, we cannot have 150+ families in the building. With that being said, we are going to do some creative things for you to be able to meet the St. Matthew staff and try to make it feel as if it were a normal start of the year.

Additionally, if restrictions are lifted at any point, we will do an open house so you can formally meet the teachers and be in the building. I know this is not ideal and may cause some anxiousness the first few days, but know that we have plans in place for that and in the event that your student is struggling to go into the building the first couple of days, we will work with you on a plan and that may include you walking them to class.
