St. Matthew Elementary
This week's to-do list:
Enjoy your weekend! Hopefully the rain lets up soon!
Wash those masks so they are ready for a full week!
Get your SCRIP orders in for next week;
DUE BY 10AM on Monday
Each week we like to recognize students who go above and beyond to show positive interactions while at St. Matthew School. Here are this week's PAWSITIVE students...keep up the great work!
One of the amazing things about St. Matthew is our ability to enter into prayer in times of need. Today during morning prayer, I shared information with students to help them understand the magnitude of 9/11. Then, to honor the lives lost and to pray for all those in need, as a school, we entered into prayer through the Hail Mary at the following times:
8:46AM - north tower was struck
10:28AM - north tower collapsed
We realize the other times of 9:30AM, 9:37AM, 9:59AM, and 10:07AM as important milestones as well. Today we teach about and remember all those affected by this horrific day.
Grandparent's Day - Sunday, Sept. 13th
Today would have been our celebration of Grandparent's Day here at St. Matthew School, and for that I am saddened. This is one of the many great traditions at St. Matthew; one we all truly enjoy. Getting to see all the grandparents and grandfriends with their grandchild(ren) through the celebration of mass is heartwarming. While we cannot celebrate together today, we will hold our grandparents in prayer as we honor them this weekend.
We will look to reschedule this event when it is safe to gather. Thank you grandparents for the important role you play in your grandchildren's life.
The SCRIP Program Returns
We are beginning the SCRIP program at St. Matthew as we continue to search for creative ways to help families ensure that tuition is affordable. SCRIP has a history in many of the other Xavier Catholic Schools and has been done with great success, providing a sizable tuition benefit to families, as well as an income generator for the St. Matthew community. The best part about this program, it does not require that you sell anything or spend additional dollars. Instead, this program operates through the purchase and use of gift cards for the stores that you already shop at.
This program can be used by you, the parent/guardian, but can also be shared with family and friends; these individuals can indicate that the proceeds from their purchase be applied to your child' tuition account at any Xavier Catholic School. A form indicating whose account should be credited is attached here, please make sure we have this on file for anyone purchasing SCRIP through St. Matthew. If we receive an order and do not have this information, we will reach out and ask the individual requesting SCRIP to complete the form.
You can purchase gift cards 2 ways:
- after you check out, this electronic gift card will be in "Your Wallet" on the dashboard screen. You can print and use whenever you would like.
- these orders will be processed on Monday at 10AM and delivered on Thursday via your preferred method as indicated on the Scrip Form
Now through the school year!
Initially, SCRIP is available online through the link below; however, in the coming months you will be able to purchase some local SCRIP gift cards, in person, in the main foyer at St. Matthew Elementary School. More details to come, stay tuned.
Here is how this program works:
Shop online (or in person, when available) for gift cards.
You will notice when you select a gift card, there will be a percentage indicated; this is the amount that is split 50/50 with you and St. Matthew.
The system keeps track of this amount and at the end of the reporting cycle, we will send you a final statement that includes the amount of tuition benefit you will receive for the following school year; in this case 2020-2021.
All physical gift orders in our system by Monday at 10AM will be processed for the week
; anything submitted after this time will be processed the following week
Orders that were processed on Monday and gift cards will be delivered via your preferred method (as indicated on the form) on Thursday of that same week

Masks are required for entry and to be worn for the duration of the contest.

Livestreaming of Xavier Games/Events Will Be Available for Xavier Fans for Free this Fall
With spectator limitations in place for health and safety reasons, Xavier is offering free live-streaming of select home games/events so fans can keep up with the Saints even when they can't attend a game in person.
Xavier fans will be able to access select Xavier home events (including tonight's football game) for FREE when signing up for a free NFHS account.
Xavier has invested in licensing to give XHS fans this free opportunity.
Xavier has installed special fixed-mount, automated cameras to livestream select games/events in the Ron Thillen Gymnasium and at Saints Field.
The current plan is to use the public address announcer for commentary for games. We are exploring additional ways to provide commentary as well.
If Xavier competes
at another school and that school is on the NFHS Network, users would have to pay for an NFHS subscription (monthly and annual options available) to view that game.
If Xavier competes at another school and that school is NOT on the NFHS Network, that game will not be live-streamed.
To watch tonight's game via the NFHS Network and additional ways you can receive updates, head to
Tonight's football game will also be carried on KMRY Radio (93.1FM/1450AM).
